I'm a sad panda

why one should always wash handknits in a lingere bag

Lesson learned - always put hand knits in a zippered pillowcase before washing. The aggitator do-hicky seems to have gotten into one of the yarn overs and caused the big sad hole. If you need a more extreme view of the damage, click the photo, then click "all sizes". It's marginally repairable, but I don't have scraps of this colorway around any more, so it would really stand out. It's right on the front of the lower leg, so possibly in the most visible place possible.

The yarn is Koigu (sob!) and the pattern is my own, Falling Leaves. I did get a year of good weekly wear out of them, if we're looking on the bright side. Hand knit socks are not forever.
